Business Development Manager

Core Role Summary

The Business Development Manager role is a key position and the bedrock of the Baumit sales drive. The sales team is primarily responsible for achieving monthly revenue targets and driving the sales growth. This role is field based and requires a high degree of self-management and motivation. The sales team is a crucial function to the future success of Baumit UK and through a clear plan, actionable review of insights and performance coupled with close commercial relationships with key customers, we can leverage our position within the UK market.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Increase turnover and profitability within direct accounts defined in a geographical area
  • Proactively sell Baumit UK products to applicators, contractors and back-sell through current stockists via distribution partners
  • Agree targets and set objectives for each account with your defined area and obtain agreement to the proposed area plan. Amend in the light of changes to regional, national, market strategy
  • Arrange training for all customers as necessary to ensure knowledge of the sales benefits and technical advantages of all Baumit UK products
  • Evaluate and identify potential contract leads within the developer sector using lead software, namely Barber ABI and manage accordingly 
  • Fully understand and effectively communicate the strategy of the business
  • Plan journeys and visits to customers at appropriate frequencies to optimise the potential of each account, having regard to the time and expense involved whilst adhering to KPI’s set by your line manager
  • Create and employ a journey plan and record your visit notes via CRM system (Sales-i)
  • Ensure comprehensive records are kept and maintained via CRM system (sales-i) and laptop computer of all current and potential contacts in accordance with company guidelines
  • Regularly liaise with relevant key staff, both internally and externally, to maximise efficiency
  • Refer customer suggestions on potential product modifications and/or new ideas 
  • Maintain awareness of competitor products and activities, which may affect Baumit UK’s future policy and provide appropriate feedback 
  • Evaluate opportunities for participation in trade events and exhibitions and arrange company involvement, including personal representation, where appropriate.
  • Participate and take responsibility for your customers at corporate events
  • Compile monthly reports
  • Ensure a high standard of presentation of car and equipment at all times as well as a high standard of personal appearance

Person specification / Core Competencies:

 Experience:
  • A demonstrated background working in the building materials sector
  • Good presentation skills
  • Strong commercial orientation, able to demonstrate a commercially based offer
  • Ability to understand product range and application
  • Evidence of strong planning skills
  • Proven success at managing a complex portfolio of products and ranges
  • Customer relationship management (CRM) and online experience
  • Strong customer orientation; used to dealing with customers and building close relationships

Territory covering WA, SK, S, DN, LN postcodes north to include Scotland.

Hours

35.5 hours p/w (excl. Lunch)
Monday - Thursday: 08:30 – 17:00
Friday: 08:30 – 14:30
