Warehouse Manager

Core Role Summary

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for his team organising the safe and efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of warehoused goods. Promoting a positive can-do attitude, friendly environment and with a firm understanding of what is expected from the team. Pushing the status quo to ensure that the warehouse evolves into a 21st century by maximizing and adapting new technologies that are available.

Create and maintain an environment where the ‘customer journey’ is front of mind and executed accordingly complimenting the product quality and is customer focused with a focus on service and being best in class. 

Job Description

Role and Responsibilities
  • Co-ordinate the efficient picking & packing of customer orders (picking, final finish, packaging, checking, loading and administration)
  • Manage ‘goods in’ (unloading, checking, storing and administration) from suppliers.
  • Ensuring that all goods that are loaded / unloaded match the relevant paperwork.
  • Production of samples in a timely manner in line with customer requirements working closely with Marketing.
  • Warehouse Forklifts, Counterbalance & Pallet Pedestrian Truck operation under the correct and safe working guidelines for all.
  • Operating the tint machine under the correct and safe working guidelines whilst coordinating with purchasing to source required tints in a timely and efficient manner alleviating write off.
  • Storing and rotating stock according to company procedures, but in the most efficient process to alleviate any write off of stock.
  • Reporting any damaged or missing goods to the Head of Sales Operations through the correct procedures.
  • Keeping the warehouse environment clean and tidy and maintaining equipment (Forklift, tinting machine, mixers, packaging equipment), enhancing and maintaining continually.
  • Key person to implement and follow workplace health and safety rules.
  • Ensuring efficient operations by adhering to operational procedures, rules, and schedules.
  • Assisting with warehouse inventory controls – 2 counts per day, and each SKU counted each month.
  • Always treating stock with care and respect alleviating write off of materials.
  • Be responsible for all warehouse and building areas inside and outside, maintaining and enhancing accordingly.
  • Responsible for the overall productivity within the goods in and goods out department, maximizing space supporting the growth of the business.
  • Support operational change and continuous improvement by providing continual enhancements to aid efficiency.
  • Maintain and improve teams and personal KPI performance levels to maximize the efficiency of the operation and environment.
  • Recognize training needs and provide solutions to/for the team, implementing and maintaining accordingly.
  • Advise, lead, mentor, couch, motivate & work on a PDP for each of your team members.
  • Create a culture where team members can share / implement ideas or solutions and initiatives are recognized.
  • Manage Warehouse weekly Rota, ensuring that the mandatory breaks are implemented accordingly to comply with working time regulations and support the welfare of the team.
  • Manage D2D efficiencies.
  • Delivering on key warehouse Projects from cradle to grave like Inventory Locations, Warehouse Investment plans, Cage Area, etc.) with approved project plan, within budget and on time to aid the growth of the business.
  • Define / Redefine equipment requirements in the warehouse and motivate the team to help identify new solutions to deliver tangible efficiencies supporting the ROI.
  • Budget Planning to be defined by month for following year as required and spent accordingly to budget in time.
  • Manage & assist the inventory with Purchasing & Sales to ensure accurate and correct inventory is being held at any time and zero back orders.

Deliverables:
  • Timely and accurate picking / packing and dispatching of customer orders is sent OTIF with a 98% accuracy.
  • Inventory Rotations to ensure no stock goes out of date. FIFO.
  • Stock Management is maintained with a 99% accuracy.
  • Warehouse Health & Safety is always to standard, abided by all who enter the Warehouse environment.
  • All warehouse equipment is serviced / clean and in working order with routine maintenance, or repairs quoted for and actioned on time and in budget.
  • Management of warehouse team and ensure that productivity and efficiency is industry leading.
  • Team player with a core focus on promoting a positive and friendly environment with a firm understanding of what is expected from each warehouse staff member, empowering the team and recognizing great work.
  • h. Solutions orientated with exceptional problem-solving attitude to react and plan for the future, where the customer journey is enhanced & compliments the product quality by being customer focused.
  • Accurate budget planning & spending.
  • Delivering on key warehouse Projects from cradle to grave, on time and in budget.
  • Any other tasks as directed by management. 

Qualifications / Experience:
  • GCSE in Math’s, English and IT literate (Excel, Word, Outlook, Microsoft AX 365)
  • Interpersonal skills – the ability to work well in a team and is a good team player / leader of people.
  • Experienced with a good understanding of warehouse activities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working collaboratively with other departments ensuring all orders are completed to a high standard.
  • Good timekeeper and able to work under pressure, quickly, accurately, and safely meeting deadlines.
  • Flexible and enthusiastic approach to work, willing to go the ‘extra mile’ for the company and their team.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail, minimizing mistakes or resolving to alleviate becoming a problem.
  • Well organized, conscientious, and reliable.
  • An aptitude to develop within the role.
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to prioritize workload, delegating responsibilities fairly whilst remaining hands on and leading from the front.
  • A good understanding to enforce the use of appropriate PPE and general health and safety in a warehouse environment to remain complicit to regulations and alleviate accidents.
  • Valid Forklift & Pump Truck License.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the same or similar role required.
