Sustainability

Our goals for 2030

At Baumit, we are wholeheartedly committed to a sustainable future. Our vision is ambitious, aiming to significantly reduce our environmental footprint by 2030. We strive to achieve this through a series of comprehensive sustainability initiatives, from optimizing product recipes to embracing renewable energy sources and work closely with our subsidiaries across Europe resulting in aggregated figures.

While we wholeheartedly commit ourselves to achieving these sustainability goals by 2030, it is essential to acknowledge that unforeseen circumstances and external factors beyond our control may impact our progress. Therefore, we must emphasize that, while we are dedicated to doing our utmost to meet these targets, Baumit cannot be held liable for any potential deviations from the outlined objectives.

We believe that transparency and open communication are fundamental to building trust. Throughout this journey, we will diligently update our findings and our progress towards these sustainability goals. Your continued support and understanding are invaluable as we collectively strive towards a more sustainable future.

The CO2 Savings Calculator provided here is intended for informational purposes only. The calculations and results generated are based on general estimates and assumptions. Actual results may vary based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, specific insulation materials used, local climate conditions, and individual building characteristics.

The calculation of CO2e savings are calculated based on the average installation of 10cm Baumit EPS External Thermal Insulation Composite System (ETICS) on buildings with existing masonry with an assumed 70 years building life.

Key Points:

U-value improvement: 1.04 W/m2K
Resulting energy savings: approximately 85 kWh/m2 per year
CO2e reduction with oil heating: 26.4 kg CO2/m2 per year
According to the Bavarian Forestry Administration Bulletin 27, a single spruce tree (thickness=32cm, height=25m) can absorb around 1,000 kg of CO2 after 70 years, equating to an annual absorption of approximately 14 kg CO2. This means that 1 square meter of Baumit ETICS saves as much CO2 per year as 2 spruce trees can absorb. With 45 million square meters of installed Baumit ETICS p. a., this results in an estimated annual reduction of approximately 1.1 million tons of CO2e. For the calculation we assume a building life of 70 years, adding up 800 Million tons CO2e savings to date.
