Get the appIf your existing render has cracks with a width of more than 0.5 mm, it is important to repair immediately because the penetration of moisture can lead to further, more serious damage to the entire façade.
Existing render that has cracks with a width greater than 0.5 mm should be completely rennovated, with new façade render applied.
Remove any loose parts from the existing surface by brushing down.
Render the façade using Baumit MultiContact MC55 W, reinforced with fibre glass mesh.
Then apply a new façade paint or render, depending on required finish.
Check the crack width and remove any peeling parts from the surface using a spatula. Brush or pressure wash the dusty and dirty facade. If the facade still has other deficiencies, it is necessary to remove them first.
You will need tools and Baumit MultiContact MC55 W renovation render for a complete repair of a façade with inactive cracks wider than 0.5 mm.
Mix up the Baumit MultiContact MC55 with water according to the product data sheet and stir well with a hand-held electric stirrer until smooth and without any lumps. After 5 minutes of rest, stir again. Processing time: approx. 1.5 hours.
Apply Baumit MultiContact MC55 W to the surface of the façade using a toothed smoothing tool. Place the Baumit StarTex fibre glass mesh onto the fresh render, with 10 cm overlapping. Once the mesh is in place, wipe the surface of the render so that the reinforcement is not visible. Reinforcement layer thickness 3 - 5 mm.
Before finishing the façade , apply the topcoat in two layers. After slight drying of the first layer, apply the second thin layer and after sufficient drying, smooth the surface texture with a polystyrene, felt or foam smoother.
After a minimum of 3 days you can apply a uniformly mixed façade paint to the surface of the render, e.g. Baumit StarColor, NanoporColor. Baumit façade paint may also be applied using an airless spraying to allow for fast and even application of the façade paint in a short time. Suitable for large uniform surfaces.
