Inspired by Mediterranean life, Zeytinli House is located in the countryside of Seferihisar, Izmir in western Turkey. In this land, which gives life to a rich vegetation, a wide biodiversity and unique endemic species, Gölcük Village appears at the highest point of the hill. Surrounded by olive trees, green hills flowing between each other, vineyards that have been giving life to the wines of Teos for years shape the geomorphology of Gölcük Village.

The relationship between the duplex stone building and the additional living spaces in the courtyard, which has been abandoned to loneliness for years, and the relationship with the immediate surroundings begins to influence you even before you step into the building... In fact, it creates a feeling as if it strongly reminds you that it is not so difficult to exist and stay local in modern society. Therefore, Zeytinli House is a different interpretation of modern architecture combined with traditional outside the concept of city and time. The "courtyard and space", which shelters between the stone walls that emerge from the soil monolithically, almost disappears in the silhouette of the village with the scale it constitutes. The old duplex stone house, which touches the trace of the old in this extraordinary geography with its presence in the courtyard; It is a beautiful representation of the ancient way of life of Anatolian civilisations, which is used as a living space above the corral. The building has been re-functionalised to meet the modern living needs of the user by preserving its perimeters. Designed with the aim of a calm and slow life, the spaces are revitalised between the new stone walls bearing the traces of all the old structures. The distinction between indoors and outdoors disappears with the transparencies and the stone texture built continuously throughout the building. With its high permeability, daylight and unique sounds of nature gently leak through the openings of the building. Thus, it offers different experiences to its users every time and in every frame in different time periods. The courtyard, which can be defined as a transitional space between inside and outside, is the most important character of this building from the past to the present. The reflection pool, which is placed in the courtyard and forms a large surface horizontally, plays an active role in the transfer of unique sky movements and green spaces with many shades into the building. In the building, which surprises its users with a different perception at almost every hour of the day, the static state of everything flows softly towards nature and stops 'that moment'. Bright sunlight, softly blowing wind, the sound of birds, the texture of the stone and the scent of the plants, it is as if everything exists and ends with this place.
