Villa Rhenania – historic from the foundation to the workmanship
The villa started life as a railway carriage factory around 1871. With its two-storey hipped roof and pilaster structure, the building has been under heritage protection since 1920.
Today, it is part of the contemporary office complex “iCampus” and serves as a venue for conferences, art and cultural events.
From its ornately designed entrance hall to its neoclassical columns and original colour scheme, the villa has been meticulously restored, preserving the authenticity of its contemporary splendour.
The stucco was rendered on site in accordance with the heritage protection regulations. In order to fulfil the client’s request for stucco which is produced and applied locally, only a small amount of preparation was carried out in the workshop. The project entailed a comprehensive restoration that involved removing all the existing old elements and completely reworking them. For this, precisely sketched or moulded templates/samples were used as a basis and all the work was carried out exclusively by hand, without using machine technology. This precise and meticulous approach ensured the authentic reconstruction and preservation of the historical stucco elements.
