Hill House
The linear floorplan allowed us to stretch all of the main living areas Kitchen, Living, Dining and all of the bedrooms to take full advantage of the view. The back of house accommodation was then kept away from the view and tucked to the NW corner via a 2 storey curving wall to lead you to the rear front door access. This approach kept the front of the house unobstructed allowing for landscaping to come right to the edge of the buildings threshold. The entrance to the rear parking area is framed by a monolithic Valentia stone clad wall which references the purple hue seen on the rugged coastline below. This wall is multivalent, It is a framed entrance to the rear garden and parking area, it is a contextual link to other stone clad buildings adjoining the site, it is a textured reflection of the rugged coastline, it is a solar sun shade for the Living room with brise soleil ,it frames the view and it is a counterbalance to the dark flat elevated building behind.

The dynamic setting was what drew the clients to the site and Ricky and Marias brief was very detailed but the overarching design elements to achieve were flow, view, functionality and a patio to the west to take advantage of evening sun, we achieved this by creating a dual aspect for the kitchen which allows you to be in touch with the view at all times of the day whether inside or outside the A rated house The certified A rated house has 4 bedrooms at first floor, master bedroom, master ensuite and master walk in, 3 kids bedrooms all ensuite with a utility room, office, tv room, family room and kitchen dining downstairs., decor was simple clean lines with bespoke built in storage so there was no unnecessary redundant space.
