The former pharmacy was extensively renovated, creating a wine restaurant and café. Furthermore, the conversion project created additional living space in the form of guest rooms. Alongside traditional craftsmanship techniques with a brushed finish, a modern concrete look and, above all, professional thermal insulation were implemented. Owing to the building structure, which consists of an old building and a new extension, different materials were used. While the new building was only plastered, the old building was given a mineral wool insulation. Therefore, thermal insulation was applied in some places and in other places lightweight fibre plaster was applied to highly insulating masonry. The aim was to achieve a uniform appearance on all plaster bases. The building contractor wanted a special visual effect on the surface. After preparing numerous sample panels with different surfaces and colours, the decision was taken. Due to the exposed position right next to a busy road, concrete grey was chosen as the base colour. To prevent the façade from becoming soiled too quickly, the wish for a largely closed surface in the ground floor area was decisive for the choice of the concrete look. The brushed finish was added to give the surfaces of the façade a feeling of vibrancy. No additional coloured coating was applied; two coats of a colourless dispersion-based coating were applied. As a small eye-catcher: lettering on a surface felted with Multi 5 and filled with Creativ Top Silk using the stencilling technique.
